Bristolians, however, have no such ground of complaint. Theirs is one of the most historic of cities, and the story of Bristol is linked at nearly every point with the chain of our country's history. The city is rich in those memorials which are apart from books and writings. In spite of constant progress, and the necessary destruction of many things which have become time-worn and useless, there is not an important period in the history of our land which cannot still, in one way or another, be associated with some existing landmark.
